About the Role

DEPARTMENT: RESEARCH

We are a group of students & recent graduates creating a platform for Scotland’s Refugees to share their voice through art. Through a research-driven educational campaign, we use our online presence and creative events to raise awareness in the local community about what it means to be a refugee, with the vision of a welcoming and accepting society.

We are looking for 2-3 Community Engagement and Research Officers for our COLOURS 2019 - 2020 team. The successful candidates will be working with a team of 5-6 dedicated, skilful and highly motivated volunteers. The ideal candidate should be organised, socially driven (specifically within the issues surrounding refugee and asylum seeker integration), a good writer, and have some experience in qualitative research or journalism. 

The Community Engagement and Research Officer's main focus will be supporting the Research lead the rest of the Research team with relationship building within the community and conducting interviews. They would ideally be able to speak conversational level or above Arabic or Farsi.

Reaching out and getting involved with existing organisations and contacts to build a dialogue, form connections, and reach out for interviews

Arranging for, conducting and transcribing interviews

Assisting with talking to people about community issues, especially those relevant to the refugees/asylum seeker community

Researching and writing blog posts

Assisting with peer reviews of blog posts & assisting the marketing team with research-driven online comms
